Feature Friday: The Harea Band

Feature Friday: The Harea Band

This soul-infused pop band has been making a serious groove in Ottawa’s music scene. The Harea Band is a high energy five piece rife with cheerful lyrics and catchy, toe-tapping melodies. Their first EP “Hip Hip Harea” released in 2014 brought them a broad fan base and tons of gigs at such reputable venues across Ontario and Quebec, including the legendary Blacksheep Inn, TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, CityFolk, and garnered lots of radio airplay on CBC.

But since their debut in 2014, they’ve hit it out of the ballpark with their latest more pop-y, funk-y, dance-y, and super soulful 2016 release, aptly named “All the Hits”. “What You Need” is an ear catching, horns-infused, deep-pocket track that you can’t help to move your body to. Another highlight is power tune “Drop and Dance” which has a pulsing dance floor beat, precision stops, and rivals any party anthem we’ve ever heard.

Over all this band really knows how to write and perform move-your-body tunes with funk-inspired instrumentations, faultless vocalizations, and get down beats. And if you haven’t seen them before now’s your chance…

Harea Band performs tonight at Irene’s Pub at 9 pm with The Reverb Syndicate and St. Stephen’s, cover is FREE.

They are also up for CityFolk’s Stingray Rising Star Award which will give the winning artist opportunities to play, get heard, and monetary support. Go here to vote for the Harea Band, voting closes on Sunday!
