The Artichoke Hearts are a folk trio self described as “three forest nymphs pulled together by chance to sing, strum, plink and pluck”. Members Caitlin Dolan (lead vocals, guitar), Kim Jackson (piano, vocals), and Jessie Lyon (violin) have joined their formidable talents to create their debut EP “Conquer then Divide” out tomorrow!
They’ve been making some noise lately in the Ottawa music scene frequently appearing in the Ottawa Citizen’s weekly column “Hot Gigs this Week” and CBC Ottawa’s weekly rundown of mustsee shows in the area compiled by the venerable Jessa Runciman. Their songs feature an able balance between guitar, piano, and strings fronted by Caitlin’s warm vocals and reflective lyricism. Keep an eye on this exciting group as their new release is sure to garner them more attention. The Artichoke Hearts need to be seen live to fully appreciate the skill and intimate energy of the group.
The Conquer then Divide release party is at Bar Robo tomorrow, Saturday September 24th at 8 pm, and features guests Fire Antlers and Véronique Bilodeau. Check the event listing here.
