The Visit, comprised of cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne and vocalist Heather Sita Black, is a musical dialogue that transcends genres and idioms. Combining the structures and instrumentation of classical chamber music with the emotional and rhythmic weight of metal, their lengthy, through-composed pieces conjure sonic worlds in which listeners can immerse themselves.
The duo has garnered virtually unanimous praise for their debut album Through Darkness Into Light, “an almost impossibly beautiful release” […] “that should appeal to fans of both metal and classical music.”.
With a rare combination of virtuosity, emotional intensity, and genre-defying innovation, The Visit is making their mark on the international stage as they forge a musical path all their own.
Thomas Carbou & Patrick Graham:
Since their first performance as a duo in 2012, guitarist Thomas Carbou and percussionist Patrick Graham have established an almost telepathic musical rapport. Their music is equal parts ecstatic groove pieces and dream-like soundscapes, blending spontaneous improvisation, electronic looping, Brazilian and Indian musical influences. An array of instruments are featured onstage, including custom 8-string guitar, cuatro, bouzouki, cajon, frame drums, berimbau, udu and unique metal percussion, all of which is augmented by Thomas’ hypnotic vocals, samplers and video projections. Carbou and Graham will be on tour in Québec and Ontario in October and November 2016 to support the release of their first album, ‘Impulse’, available on the Ad Litteram label.
