Aug 11 – Ray Harris:
“Born in Bowmanville, Ontario and raised in Shawville, QC, Harris is a 20-year veteran of the Ottawa scene, having played with with the Sunbleached Skulls, Lefty McRighty, George Stryker & the Bandits, Mustang Ranch, The Willies, as well as hosting dozens of songwriter circles, charity and tribute shows. His first release “East End, West End, North End, South End” collected songs written over a few years during his travels locally as well as several trips to Nashville and Georgia. The album received regular airplay on local stations CHUO, CKCU and CHIP-FM. His second album “Poorly Kept Secrets” was released in 2013 and his third will be released in 2016.
Harris played the annual Gram Parsons Tribute in Waycross, GA four years in a row and also played Parsons tributes in Nashville, TN, and Toronto, Canada. He played the 2011 Ottawa Opry and hosted the monthly songwriter circle (with his son-in-law Lefty McRighty) at the Elmdale Tavern.
Aug 18 – Bruce Wozny:
“With a fondness for great songs of any genre, Bruce is an enthusiastic singer-songwriter and a member of the Wellington Trio, who specialize in instrumental songbook standards and original tunes in that style. He was also a proud member of alt-country originals band Lost Colt.
Some of Bruce’s songwriting heroes are Gillian Welch, Tom Waits, Turlough O’Carolan, John Prine, David Frishberg, Tom Lehrer, Bob Dorough, Duke Ellington and Roger Miller….”
