(doors open at 7:00)

George Gershwin straddled the line of original artistic exploration and mass appeal with his vibrant, distinctly American melodies and piano music. In recent months, Steve has been digging into Gershwin’s music to discover some of the lesser known gems. This show will feature Steve’s arrangements of some of his favourite discoveries. They will also be playing a lot of Steve’s original music in preparation for a recording session for my first trio album.

Steve Boudreau is an Ottawa-based jazz pianist. His past shows have included in depth looks at artists including Wayne Shorter, Oscar Peterson, Thelonious Monk, Brian Wilson, and Cannonball Adderley. He has released a solo piano album, “Open Arms”, and a duo record with guitarist Garry Elliott, “Pre-Dawn Skies”. Both recordings feature primarily original compositions. Steve is highly in demand as a private piano teacher and vocal accompanist. He has performed all over North America and Europe in various settings.
