Crystalena has been a performing musician for 6 years whose blues-rock roots have evolved with a smooth soulful influence that can be heard within the unique textures of her voice. Her raw dedication to song-writing with intent stand as testament of her ability to inspire the audience with passion fuelled performances. She has been said to create incendiary warmth to listeners hearts, paired with her versatility to arrange big band shows and also offer intimately minimalist sets. She wears her heart on her sleeve while fusing soul-blues and an extensive blend of musical styles which make this Canadiana and Celtic as experimental as her skillset. Crystalena’s music and thought-provoking lyrics look to address a range of complex topics, from social issues to the struggles and successes of self-empowerment. Her “original songs map their way through minor chorded melodies, intense rises and falls, and her signature vocal jumps into long sustains” [Terry Steeves – Apt 613].
Sean Duhaime is a session guitarist and composer. He performs as a bandleader, collaborator and sideman with numerous bands and musicians (such as Kimberly Sunstrum, Blakdenim, Crystalena, Slim Moore, Vince Rimbach, etc.) for over 10 years. He has performed at RBC Ottawa Blues Festival, TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, National Art Centre, Infinity Convention Centre, CTV Television Station, Ottawa City Hall and multiple of venues in Ottawa, Gatineau, Wakefield, Montreal and Toronto.
On October 2nd, 2016, they released an EP entitled ‘’Finally!’’ at the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield, Quebec. ‘’Finally’’ has 4 original tracks including ‘’Bert’’, ‘’Tomo’’, ‘’Unblue’’ and ‘’Kenshiro’’. The EP was recorded by tape and no over dubs by Scott McCanell.
