PUP

“Canadian Live Music presented by SiriusXM Canada”

Toronto has been the breeding grounds for some of the best punk rock bands around. But what sets PUP apart in this booming scene is their ability to fuse raw punk energy with catchy earworms, big hooks, and scream-along choruses. Their songs are loud and fast, equal parts unchecked energy and calculated arrangements, with hair-pin turns, raging guitar riffs, and an overload of gang vocals.

Meghan Patrick

Meghan has quickly made a name for herself since signing to Warner Music Canada. She has recently signed a publishing deal with Olé Nashville. Her debut album, Grace and Grit is set to be released in the spring of this year. To make this album, Meghan travelled to a number of studios in Canada and America, including the capital city of country music, Nashville. The Monkees

When four young men were cast in the television roles of a struggling rock band inspired by The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night, few could have predicted the impact The Monkees would make on music and pop culture — an impact that still reverberates 50 years later.

Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 for the television series ‘The Monkees’, the quartet of
Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and the late Davy Jones brought a singular mix of pop, rock, psychedelica, Broadway, and country to their music. The show itself, meanwhile, paid tribute not only to The Beatles, but also to the comedy stylings of The Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy as well as the pop-art sensibilities of Warhol and the emerging San Francisco psychedelic scene.

Colin Linden

“Canadian Live Music presented by SiriusXM Canada”

Not many artists can say they’re getting better, 33 years into their recording career. Yet Colin Linden can certainly be considered a member of that select club based on ‘From The Water’, the 11th solo album in a storied career that has also featured his work on literally hundreds of other records. At last count, the total of albums on which he has played stood at more than 300, while at least 70 albums bear the ‘Produced by Colin Linden’ credit.

Linden is a genuine renaissance man of roots music. He’s a singer and songwriter of great skill, an in-demand and prolific record producer (Bruce Cockburn, Tom Wilson, Colin James), a sideman to the stars as guitarist for the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and, for the past decade, a member of the highly successful trio, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.

Freddie Gibbs

Freddie Tipton (born January 28, 1982 in Gary, Indiana), aka Freddie Gibbs, gained recogntion as one of XXL Magazine’s top-10 Freshmen of 2010. He has worked with respected producers like Madlib, Red Spyda, Just Blaze, Buckwild, the Alchemist, Polow Da Don, and Collipark, among many others. Gibbs cites Houston Rap and Pac as his major influences, and it shows in his ability to alternate between chillingly tense street stories of violence and laid back comedic tales about women and weed. Ultimately Gibbs “shows and proves” with his rhymes, which demonstrate the promise of a legend in the making. His skills, wit, and street credibility establish Freddie Gibbs as a true artist. He’s ready to represent for Gary, the Midwest, and anyone who relates to the struggle of inner city life. As Gibbs tells it: “My music is definitely on some gangsta shit. That’s what I was raised on and what I witnessed. How can I speak on anything else?” Join Freddie Gibbs’ ever-growing fan-base at this year’s RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa.

Sam Hunt

At first glance, Sam Hunt might seem like a fairly typical young country singer who came to Nashville with little idea of how the music business worked, but with big dreams. Yet a closer look instantly reveals that there is nothing typical about his music, nor about the way he has introduced his work to the world. In a short time and on his own terms, he has become one of Nashville’s most hotly anticipated new artists, and his debut album ‘Montevallo’ delivers on the buzz. The album follows Hunt’s recent four-song album preview, X2C, led by the Top-5, gold-selling track “Leave the Night On.” Of course, even though he was a recording rookie, Hunt was no stranger to the country music charts, having already written hits for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Billy Currington.
