Ian Tamblyn// Birdie Whyte @ Batstone’s Northern Ramble

Multi-Award winning songwriter Ian Tamblyn with special guest Birdie Whyte share an intimate evening of songs and stories in this ‘not to be missed’ concert at the Northern Ramble.

Birdie Whyte:

Ottawa’s horse whispering, clear eyed clairvoyant Birdie Whyte will sing you songs guaranteed to inoculate you against the any morning blues.

Next to horses songwriting is Birdie’s passion and her voice lends an aching depth to the simple country lyrics she lays down. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Gillian Whelch, Tom Waits, Iris Dement, Madlene Peroux, Lyle Lovette and Townes Van Zandt, she’ll bring you soothing Sundays songs and tell your fortune too!

Ian Tamblyn:

Ian Tamblyn has been a musician since 1972. He has released 38 albums as well as acting as producer for dozens of other artists. Over the years Ian has written too many songs and has given up on counting them. He has also written fourteen plays and over one hundred theatre soundtracks.

Ian has received a number of awards and nominations. In 2012, Ian was made a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society for his guiding and creative work in the Canadian Arctic. He has been awarded the Estelle Klein and Helen Verger Awards for his contributions to Canadian folk music; he has a honourary doctorate from Lakehead University, a Distinguished Alumni Award from Trent University and was voted English Songwriter of the Year in 2010 by the Canadian Folk Music Awards, amongst other awards and nominations in the music and theatre world.
