Rachel Stiles is a singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario. Her sound ranges from acoustic folk to ambient and haunting pop sounds. She enjoys captivating the audience through her emotionally driven song writing that comes through her with messages of hope, love, and all the timeless beauty that music allows our hearts to feel and heal within. She recorded a stark, sonically tender video with Shot In The Dark in 2017, and will be working on an album over 2019 and is looking forward to sharing her sounds with the world.
Growing up, once-rapper Nepean kid Matty ‘Graven’ McKechnie was a massive teen listener of J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Stephen Malkmus (Pavement), Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, Lionel Richie, Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray and old school hip-hop. Having played in suburban garage bands since his mid-teens, he began to adapt and progress with the shifting musical terrain around him while still staying true to his idyllic influences. Graven’s songs are truly atmospheric, raw, passionate, personal and rare – and with a wild, rotating and circus-like band of hyper-talented individuals supporting and accenting him, his music generates interest and intensity. Having opened for and shared stage space with such artists as Kathryn Calder (The New Pornographers), Mark Andrew Hamilton (Woodpigeon), Slow Leaves, Megan Nash, Dave Gunning, Tanya Davis, The Wooden Sky, The Good Lovelies, Steve Poltz and Al Tuck, Graven is an active player in a few different collectives, and has toured across Canada on three separate occasions. Graven also recently gained a spot at Marvest (part of CityFolk Festival in Ottawa) and played alongside such acts as Matt Mays, Father John Misty, Bahamas and Broken Social Scene. He and his bonkers-talent band were official performers at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on July 8th, and played alongside acts like Foo Fighters, Beck, Larkin Poe, Bryan Adams, Jethro Tull, Catriona Sturton and The Dave Matthews Band. His latest single ‘Hymnal’ was produced and engineered by Jim Bryson (multi-album creator and instrumentalist with The Tragically Hip, Kathleen Edwards, The Weakerthans) and has been played on CBC, multiple times, across Canada.
