Grace Lachance is truly an artist on the rise.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Stittsville, Ontario captured the attention of audiences and industry professionals alike when she was named the winner of the 2015 She’s The One contest at the Ottawa Bluesfest. The contest drew some of the top female vocalists between the ages of 13 and 21 from across Canada, and the judges recognized something special in Grace. Her emotive cover of Kodaline’s “All I Want” and her stunning original composition “Try” earned Grace the opportunity to team up with Universal Music Canada to release her debut single, “Anymore.”
“Anymore” surprised the Canadian radio industry after receiving the Bell Media Rising Star award soon after its release. After promoting and touring on her radio top forty and adult contemporary success, she went back to work crafting a new vision. Lachance worked with different writing teams while developing her sound but established an unbreakable bond with New York City based producer Julie Kathryn aka “I Am Snow Angel”. The first single “No Sound” off of Grace’s new EP has moderate dark tones, introspective lyrics, pulsing synths and engaging vocal harmonies. Rounding out the production team was Toronto, Ontario based pop singer Kayla Diamond who co-wrote the song. This single is a brilliant example of the “Women in Music” movement as three female artists poured out their energy and soul to construct “No Sound”. The track is carefully crafted to emote dark imagery, while its rareness is brought forward by a feature from rapper G.Grand.
Drawing inspiration from her daily life, Grace is consistently expanding her repertoire of relatable songs, with plans to release her debut EP album in February 2019.
