Happy Anniversary, Ottawa! It’s our one year anniversary and we want to celebrate with you! Please join us on Friday, November 18th at 630pm to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to help us continue to support newcomers settle into Canadian society. We will host our fundraiser at the Bronson Centre and tickets may easily be purchased through our Eventbrite page for $25. The evening will showcase a Syrian dabke dance troupe, slam poetry, and a piano performance from a renowned local musician, Nicholas Deek.
Nicholas has participated in the Canada Music Competition, and Kiwanis Music Festival. He has performed in classical & contemporary chamber ensembles, jazz ensembles, as well as accompanied singers and instrumentalists. With a passion for chamber music, Nicholas has been a guest artist in the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He has participated in chamber masterclasses with members of the Gryphon Trio & Afiara String Quartet, as well as solo masterclasses with Jamie Parker and Jean-Paul Sévilla. In 2013, he performed in a solo benefit concert for Just Equipping, an organization that provides relief to refugees in Rwanda. Nick performs regularly at various venues in the city and enjoys teaching piano and theory at his home.
