The Brass Monkey is pleased to present Cherie Currie & Brie Darling of The Runaways Tuesday, November 19th.
show starts at 8pm
Inspired by the music and image of David Bowie, Cherie found an escape and a raison d’être in rock & roll. The twins began frequenting the Sugar Shack, a club for teens in North Hollywood, which played all the hottest glam rock cuts coming out of the UK. It was there, where she met producer and manager Kim Fowley and a young guitarist named Joan Jett, who also frequented the club. They were searching for a lead singer for the all-female rock band they were forming, which then consisted of Joan Jett on guitar and Sandy West on drums, and was called The Runaways.
Red Light Saints:
With a musical style impossible to pigeonhole, the Red Light Saints music experience is best described as “alternative rock fused with a kaleidoscope of influences – 70s arena rock, R&B, punk, hip hop, blues, and jazz – creating their own wildly original signature sound”. But while the music of the band is ambitious, their live show is where their halos truly shine!!!
Our main goal as a band is to entertain your bar or party by playing covers of the some of the biggest hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, as well as modern songs we all know and love. Influences include: Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Heart, AC/DC, Foreigner, The Trews and many more!! Our set list consists of songs that people will recognize as hits and want to dance to… only straight up Rock to get you moving!
