This indie rock collective based out of Toronto is known for combining thick, powerful harmonies, intense and intricate instrumentation and lyrics that draw you right into the songs and the stories they tell. Thier debut album received international praise and radio play. The band gears up for their second album to be released Fall 2016.
Trees began as an instrumental three piece. Alex and Andrew Gelok, with Alex Johnstone, created a sound that combined their love of post-rock and effect-driven guitar.
A year after formation, Jon Matthews joined Trees as a singer and instrumentalist…bringing melodies to the intricate harmony.
With strong roots in Canada’s capital, Trees are something new, and destined to grow.
This trio had their first gig leading a yoga-rave-frosh event, followed by a set at The Lord Elgin’s Christmas party featuring Bellman parodies (Silver Bellman, Carol of the Bellman etc.) Their first gig with original tunes was earlier this year, when there were many lost gloves to be found. They are currently working on their first EP to be released in time for the show! For now get excited by listening to the lead singers solo project.
