Ashley Newall opens with a mix of covers & originals, & Brian Fisher & Brandon Moscatelly (Blues) headline!
Inspired by John Lennon, Ashley Newall first picked up a guitar at age 16 and learned Lennon’s “Working Class Hero.” A year later, in 1990, he released his first tape, Square Brick Houses, so-titled as a response to the unchecked growth of cookie-cutter subdivisions in the Toronto area and the conformity that comes with them. His second tape, Three Paper Thin (1995) featured Juno award winner Dave Cooney (The Waltons, Best New Group, 1994) on drums. In late ’95 he moved to Ottawa, home to a vibrant and friendly music scene, where he continues to reside.
