On June 20th, you’ll be blown away by Yarns.
The songs of Yarns are the musical tracings of a spirit fleeing on itself. Rather than a collection of tracks, it is succession of sound paintings and meditative prose about escapism and removal.
These tiny universes first emerged from a sudden void, after Martin Dawagne left his native Belgium to relocate to North America. For more than two years, the 18 soundscapes that make up Yarns have been incubated by the experiences of the composer, as a human and as an artist. Dealing with the mental patterns and tides of his own mind, he chose to express himself through haunting loops and ethereal poems, recited by the actor Megan Carty.
Every city where he stopped, either to live in or to pass through, became the creative birthplace of a piece coupled with a prose. The music resulting from this change of scenery can be seen as the soundtrack of a real life story; that of a constant uprooting. “Summer – Fall -” is Yarns first album, produced by Mike Tompa (Dreamhouse Studios/Merriam Studios).
